Leader DevelopmentThe Leader Development Commission carries responsibility for promoting Leader Development Ministries for Areas and for congregations. Among its tasks are the following: - to develop and/or to support events for the training of church school teachers, pastors, youth leaders, elders, diaconate members and other constituents that help Area congregations to fulfill the Great Commission;
- to provide guidance to Areas and congregations in resources and new programs available for local leader development;
- to establish and review procedures for the administration of Regional leader development scholarships and the administration of Regional monetary support for campus ministries;
- to oversee the Youth Cabinet and to receive reports on any of its activities prior to the Fall Council of Areas meeting;
- to pursue an ecumenical process in all aspects of leader training and education planning of events developed by the Region.
The Leader Development Commission consists of nine elected members serving six year terms with three members being elected every two years; and of Representatives from constituency groups: CRY Coordinator, CWF Women's Ministries, Order of Ministry, African American Convocation and Missouri School of Religion. Effort is made to balance representation from Areas, racial/ethnic groups, gender and lay/clergy. | The Elders InstituteElders Institute: An event sponsored by the Leader Development Commission. The Institute meets annually in January at the Rickman Center. More than 100 elders from congregations across the Region gather to learn, share and grow as leaders for the church.
