Order of Ministry Constituency The Order of Ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Mid-America has been known by a number of appellations. It has been called the Symposium and the Communion of Disciples Clergy. The Order of Ministry exists to provide support, continuing education, fellowship and spiritual growth opportunities for clergy in the Mid-America Region.To accomplish this mission, the Order of Ministry: - Encourages persons to consider the call of God to serve the church of Jesus Christ as a minister.
- Promotes supportive relationships among the ministers of the Mid-America Region.
- Provides a forum for clergy to identify issues of common concern and, when appropriate, recommend action to the Commission on the Order of Ministry.
- Plans and administers regular gatherings.
| The Order of Ministry consists of all those licensed and ordained ministers in standing who serve in the Mid-America Region. A Steering Committee of eight persons, two from each Area, is elected by the Order of Ministry. Four are elected at each annual gathering. Members of the Steering Committee serve terms of two years. The Regional Minister shall service ex officio without vote. The Order of Ministry is a recognized constituency group within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Mid-America reporting to the Council of Areas. Programs are supported through registration fees, donations and solicited contributions. Members of the Order of Ministry are invited to make an annual contribution for the support of its programs. |
