CCMA StewardshipFrom Ed Varnum Director of Stewardship Education One of my favorite cartoons is from an issue of Leadership Journal and shows a church sanctuary in chaos. People are jumping out of their pews, fleeing down the aisles, staggering, shocked and stunned. Why? The preacher has just announced a ten-part series on stewardship! I am writing you today with this conviction: understanding the breadth of biblical stewardship will change the attitudes represented in that cartoon. As leaders within the Christian Church, we need to help our congregations better grasp the dynamic relationship between authentic stewardship, spiritual growth, and a vital, growing faith. It was with this conviction that the Mid-America Region Council of Areas approved a Regional Ministry of Stewardship Education at their January 19, 2008 meeting. This ministry is being funded through the calendar year of 2008 with this big, audacious goal: A region unified in the big picture of biblical stewardship, with our congregations alive in the joy of offering material and spiritual gifts in service for Christ to the glory of God. I am truly excited about my responsibilities as Regional Director of Stewardship Education, with my first two duties being to: - Offer workshops on the nature of biblical stewardship for each of the four regional areas
- Assemble a regional constituency made up of clergy and laity who are passionate about stewardship education
| You can be an essential part of this important ministry through: - Publicizing and attending the workshop in your area (note that the workshop is a gift of the Mid-America Region, with the only cost being lunch)
- Sending me the names, addresses, and e-mails of those within your church who share this passion for Christian stewardship (feel free to include your name, if appropriate!)
