Bridgeton Fund Grant applications due

The Bridgeton Christian Church Fund is an endowment created by the former Bridgeton Christian Church when it closed in 1995. Purpose of the fund, as stipulated by the congregation, is three-fold:

  • To meet monetary shortfalls due to unexpected strife in a church;

  • To help a church underwrite "revitalization/renewal" of its congregation;

  • To help meet property/structural damage caused by an act of God or other circumstances and not caused by neglect.

Guidelines stipulate that the Fund shall be used to meet a church's temporary financial need, as long as the need was not created by "overextension of a budget or repetitive under-funding of a budget by the congregation".

Any Mid-America congregation may apply for a grant. The committee will review applications to determine whether they meet the fund's requirements.

Illuman of the Ozarks will share the art of drum birthing. This activity takes strength and agility for those wanting the experience and opportunity of hands-on working together building a drum. For those who want the experience without the hands building a drum, you too will find a spiritual encounter with community and bonding.

Ethical Boundaries Training

Ethical Boundaries Training

  • Abbey Road Christian Church, Cape Girardeau (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

This training is based in an understanding that loving God with heart, soul, and mind and loving neighbor as self are the core principles that undergird all clergy ethics. It recognizes that God desires that each individual flourish and experience abundant living. Therefore, ethical living seeks to answer questions in a changing and complex world about how we can love God, love neighbor as self, and create space and opportunities for all individuals to flourish in all areas of life. Furthermore, it asserts that commissioned and ordained ministers are called by the community from within the community to serve and nurture it through leadership roles. Ministry is a vocation and professional ethical norms of other caring professions are the floor upon which clergy ethics are constructed. Undergirded by these believes, Choices for Abundant Living seeks to provide time and space for commissioned and ordained clergy to consider and discuss what it means for individuals:

  1. To flourish as they establish healthy relationships built on empathy, kindness, mutual respect, and trust;

  2. To engage in open communications that provides for problem solving, conflict resolution, opportunities to give and receive forgiveness;

  3. To develop an understanding and respect of values, believes, and attitudes of others, even if they differ;

  4. To acknowledge the independence and connectedness of each person.

Small group activities and discussion of case studies will allow commissioned and ordained clergy to reflect upon their values, their call to live within the standards set by My Code of Ethics of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and the importance of boundaries as they seek to make ethical decisions and act in ways guided by the principles of non-maleficence, veracity, and confidentiality.

Registration due by July 24. $45 includes materials and lunch. Register online now>

Safe Sanctuary Training

It is the mission of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) to work for healing in a fragmented world. We recognize that the world is never more fragmented than when violence and abuse occur against those most vulnerable in our society. It becomes even more fragmented when said violence and abuse is perpetrated against or by a member of the church.

As a community of faith, we must be committed to creating and maintaining programs, facilities; and a community in which members, friends, staff and volunteers can worship, learn, and work together in an atmosphere free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, exploitation or intimidation. This is not only good policy, most insurance carriers mandate congregations have a Safe Sanctuary Policy and require regular training.

The cost is $20 per congregation that participates - NOT PER PERSON. Cost includes all materials and lunch. Registrations are due by Wednesday, August 19 at midnight. Register online now>

Women Empowering Women in Ministry

  • First Christian Church, Jefferson City (map)

Our Women Empowering Women is just what it says, this group of women has been formed to help, nurture, empower, and give voice to women in ministry and find ways to not only keep women in their many roles of ministry but to also encourage others.

We want to provide a safe place where we can find others that we bond spiritually with from across the miles, women we might not otherwise have had the opportunity to connect with.

We want to keep women in all aspects of ministry throughout our region, and beyond! Women are vital and we need opportunities to be together and share, find spiritual partners, and sift through the challenges that we face, and learn ways to cope and share with others; finding new insights from those who have walked in our steps before and those who have witnessed those walking in these steps.

Women in many rolls of ministry and about ministry. I know some very strong, creative, and wise women who have been surrounded by and infused in ministry that have not necessarily been in ministry roles who could nurture and provide needed sources of encouragement for us all.

Women, many women supported Christ, supported the church. Women, the last at the cross, the first at the tomb, the first to witness the Risen Christ and the first to be told to go and tell them.

Women, we are needed and we must stand strong, and be Church!

In the midst of Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza and intensified violence in the West Bank, Kairos Palestine (a Palestinian Christian ecumenical movement of creative resistance) issued its second seminal document, “A Moment of Truth: Faith in a Time of Genocide” in November 2025.

Join Global Ministries for the second Palestinian Christians Speak webinar, featuring a conversation co-authors Rifat Kassis and Rev. Dr. Munther Isaac.

Together, they will help us to dive deeper into the reality of Palestinian Christians today, their witness and context, and what is required of the global Christian community to accompany them.

Thriving in Community: What We Learned about Being the Church Together

This free Creating Vital Congregations webinar is brought to us by Lexington Theological Seminary.

As the body of Christ, we are called to be connected to each other, woven together by the love and grace of Jesus Christ. “But have you seen my Google calendar?” you may ask. “How do we build community in our congregation when we are working around soccer schedules, doctors’ appointments, the lure of a hot coffee and social media-scrolling on the back porch, and 100 other things that pull us away from church?”

In this webinar, Rev. Dr. Erin Cash and Rev. Dr. Kory Wilcoxson will share what they learned about building community while writing their book, Thriving Church: What We Can Learn from Faithful Congregations, as well as their own experiences from decades in ministry.

  1. To flourish as they establish healthy relationships built on empathy, kindness, mutual respect, and trust;

  2. To engage in open communications that provides for problem solving, conflict resolution, opportunities to give and receive forgiveness;

  3. To develop an understanding and respect of values, believes, and attitudes of others, even if they differ;

Voices of Arrow Rock

Arrow Rock Federated Church continues their partnership with Voices of Arrow Rock, a readers theatre series that brings to life the stories of forgotten and underrepresented people. Their next performance is 𐓏𐓘𐓯𐓪𐓯𐓟 (Brave), which tells the story of Me-ho’n-ga, a young Osage woman, who in 1827 embarks on an extraordinary journey from her home near Arrow Rock. Venturing out into unknown waters, with only four other Osages, she faces a harrowing journey of survival to even reach Europe, let alone return. She finds an unexpected ally in France, whose compassionate act provides a lifeline back home. 𐓏𐓘𐓯𐓪𐓯𐓟 (Brave) explores trust, betrayal, and the enduring strength of the human spirit.

There is no fee for the event and no reservation is required.

Mid-America clergy can qualify the performance as an ARPRJM training renewal course with post-performance reading materials and questions along with a post-performance Zoom discussion to be arranged with Dr. Michael Kateman.

Post-performance reading materials: Moral Map & Growth Continuum and Racial Autobiography Prompts.
