The Healing Ministry of Jesus - A Sacred Time of Community

In these times of pandemic, brokenness and injustice, the world needs a ‘movement for wholeness in a fragmented world.’  At the same time, the Church needs wounded healers who have faced their own grief and loss to lean into the suffering of those entrusted to their care. We are that for one another—the body of Christ—and the Holy Spirit moves through us to bind our individual and mutual wounds. We need one another, we need safe containers to process our own hurts, we need the comfort of God so that we might comfort others.

We stand on an important threshold to serve those who are lonely, anxious, wounded and traumatized to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Are we up to the call? Jesus said it is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. And so we call God’s leaders together to ask important questions: How has this last year impacted you physically, emotionally, spiritually? Where do we find the strength and resources to come through this personally transformed and having medicine for those in our care?

As followers of Jesus, the Great Physician, we shape our communities into hospitals of hope. As Henri Nouwen wrote: “not because wounds are cured and pains are alleviated, but because wounds and pains become the openings or occasions for new vision…community arises where the sharing of pain takes place, not as a stifling form of self-compliant, but as a recognition of God’s saving promises.” The time for healing is now. And it must begin with us. We invite you to join us for a zoom gathering to sit with these issues and find hope in our God.

Join your Regional Ministers on Thursday, June 10th @ 7 pm for this sacred time.
